NBA officials gave Spears Group high praise for our execution of media operations which included developing the media relations plan, running the media credential operations, securing editorial opportunities on the multiple different topics that surround an NBA All-Star weekend, as well as working with three designated NBA Jam Session Ambassadors - Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans, Austin Rivers.
Spears Group was responsible for securing local and regional media appearances for league executives as well as NBA legend Darryl Dawkins. Spears Group also secured media for all NBA Jam Session Ambassador events including the Reading Timeout with Austin Rivers at Miller Hall Elementary School, The Jam Session Scavenger Hunt featuring Anthony Davis, and Tyreke Evans' Take the Cake king cake giveaway. Spears was also responsible for coordinating the commissioner's opening ceremony with Mayor Landrieu and Rita Benson Leblanc.
In addition, Spears coordinated Press junkets for each NBA Jam Session Ambassadors Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans, and Austin Rivers. Collectively, the players had 11 radio interviews, six television interviews, nine interviews with print outlets, and approximately eight interviews with major online news sites throughout the region including The Associated Press, The Shreveport Times, The Sun Herald, The Times Picayune/Nola.com, ESPN Radio, The New Orleans Advocate, WWL-TV, Fox 8, and WDSU to name a few.
Attendance for the 2014 Jam Session was up 43% over the NBA's 2008 numbers when they were last in New Orleans in 2008. In total, over 88,000 guests attended Jam Session in the course of the weekend.
Overall, Spears Group successfully secured nearly 200 stories covering Jam Session and All-Star activities representing over $1 Million in earned media.
